For installing a barrel sauna, a thorough foundation is not required. You can pour small pillars, install screw piles, or place it on concrete blocks on the ground. Another popular option is setting it on a prepared gravel/sand cushion or on pavement tiles. Site preparation is not included in the barrel sauna's cost.
There is a drainage hole in the middle of the construction. A siphon is additionally installed in the hole, and a corrugated pipe leads to the drain. You can create a drainage system and apply an antiseptic where the water will drain or divert it to a drain pit.
Insulating the sauna carries the risk of condensation forming between the insulation and the board, leading to a reduced lifespan of the sauna.
